New at Mouser: Laird Connectivity's Sera NX040 UWB+BLE Modules for IoT and Industrial Applications
February 14, 2024 – Mouser Electronics, the authorized global distributor with the newest electronic components and industrial automation products, is now shipping the Sera NX040 ultra-wideband (UWB) and Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE) modules from Laird Connectivity. The Sera NX040 modules are Laird Connectivity’s first UWB and Bluetooth LE tag solution designed for pinpoint, next-generation granular location and positioning proximity for industrial, consumer, medical, automotive, and IoT applications.
Laird Connectivity’s Sera NX040 UWB and Bluetooth LE modules, available from Mouser, feature tightly integrated hardware and RF designs optimized for battery-powered applications to simplify overall BOM and cost. The Sera NX040 modules combine a cutting-edge Trimension™ SR040 UWB chipset silicon from NXP Semiconductors with the processing and Bluetooth LE capabilities of Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF52833 system-on-chip (SoC) to innovate beyond basic RSSI-based beaconing or ranging Bluetooth LE, by adding near-field communication (NFC) and UWB capability, for improved locationing and positioning. Antenna options include internal PCB trace antennas for UWB and Bluetooth LE or external antennas via two MHF4L connectors.
Laird Connectivity Sera NX040 development kits demonstrate the features and capabilities of the Sera NX040 UWB and Bluetooth LE modules. Each kit includes a development board with USB and MHF4L connectors and NanoUWB, 2.4GHz FlexPIFA, and NFC antennas. To run two-way ranging demos, two development kits and the BL654 USB adapter (451-00004) are required. To run 3D positioning demos, four development kits and the same BL654 USB adapter are required.
