Microchip Technology PL460-EK Evaluation Kit
Microchip Technology PL460-EK Evaluation Kit offers an Xplained PRO extension board, including a PL460 modem that embeds a PLC signal amplification stage. The PL460-EK is a highly integrated solution that reduces the total bill of materials, simplifies the layout, and eases the modem design.
The PL460 is intended to be driven by external Microchip host devices, thus delivering additional flexibility on the host side. The Microchip host device loads the appropriate PLC-protocol firmware in the PL460 before modem operation and controls the modem.
The PL460-EK is a client companion board for the PIC32CXMT family of EK/DBs, SAM4CMx-DB family, SAME70-Xplained and SAMG55-Xplained boards. All these boards include an Xplained PRO (host) connector, and the PL460-EK has an Xplained PRO connector accordingly (client).
Features
- Includes a PL460, a programmable modem for narrow-band Power Line Communication (PLC), able to run any PLC protocol in the frequency band below 500kHz
- Implements a PLC multiband configuration in the FCC band, using the main transmission branch with the embedded PLC driver and CENELEC A-Band using the auxiliary transmission branch with discrete components
- Board needs two different power supplies, one power supply of 3.3V comes from the Xplained PRO header connector (J2), and the other one of 15V comes from the DC Jack connector (J4)
- Client Xplained PRO header connector (J2) to interface with other boards
