Microchip Technology 32-Bit SAM G Microcontrollers

Microchip Technology 32-Bit SAM G Microcontrollers are optimized for ultra-low-power and high-performance applications. The small form factor of the SAM G MCUs is based on an Arm® Cortex®-M4F core and, bundled with a Floating-Point Unit (FPU), these devices offer unrivaled efficiency in a tiny 3mm x 3mm, 49-ball WLCSP package. The SAM G  MCUs feature a highly efficient set of serial peripherals, including a 12-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), Direct Memory Access (DMA), and a good SRAM-to-Flash ratio. SAM G devices are ideal for sensor hub and battery-operated consumer applications.

The Microchip Technology SAM G MCUs are offered in four variants, the SAM G51, SAM G53, SAM G54, and SAM G55. These devices are fully compatible, even down to the WLCSP package.

The SAM G51 MCUs have 256KB of Flash and 64KB of SRAM. The devices have one USART, two UARTs, two I2C, up to two SPIs, an 8-channel 12-bit 37kSPS ADC, and 18 Peripheral DMA Controller (PDC) channels. Power consumption in active mode is 103µA/MHz and wait mode is 6.8µA. Wake-up time from wait mode to active mode is 3.2µs.

The SAM G53 MCUs build on the SAMG51 with 512KB of Flash and 96KB of SRAM. These devices also add a second 16-bit timer, two I2S channels, and 28 PDC channels. Power consumption in active mode is 102µA/MHz and wait mode is 8µA. Wake-up time from wait mode to active mode is less than 5µs.

The SAM G54 MCUs build on the SAM G53 by adding speed, running up to 96Mhz. These devices offer the same low power consumption.

The SAM G55 MCUs build on the SAM G54 by adding speed, running up to 120Mhz. These devices also include 176KB SRAM and Full-Speed USB.
