FAN4860 Synchronous TinyBoost™ Regulator

On Semiconductor FAN4860 Synchronous TinyBoost™ Regulator is a low-power boost regulator. This regulator is designed to provide a regulated 3.3V, 5V, or 5.4V output from a single cell Lithium or Li-Ion battery. The Output voltage options are fixed at either 3.3V, 5.0V, or 5.4V with a guaranteed maximum load current of 200mA at 2.3VIN and 300mA at 3.3VIN. The input current in shut-down mode is less than 1µA, which maximizes battery life. The FAN4860 regulator features light-load PFM operation which is automatic and glitch-free. This regulator maintains output regulation at no-load with as low as 37µA quiescent current. The combination of built-in power transistors, synchronous rectification, and low supply current make the FAN4860 regulator ideal for battery-powered applications. This regulator is available in 6-bump 0.4mm pitch Wafer-Level Chip Scale Package (WLCSP) and a 6-lead 2mm x 2mm ultra-thin MLP package. The FAN4860 regulator finds its applications in USB On The Go (OTG), HDMI, H-Bridge motor drivers, smartphones, and portable instruments.

FAN4860 TinyBoost Regulator

onsemi / Fairchild FAN4860 TinyBoost Regulators offer power for USB On-the-Go (OTG), and HDMI communication circuits, combining a high level of efficiency as well as a small form factor. FAN4860 TinyBoost regulators switch at a high 3MHz frequency allowing the use of small capacitors and inductors, saving board space in space-constrained designs, and reducing overall BOM costs. The FAN4860 has a total solution area as small as 2.2mm x 3.9mm. This onsemi / Fairchild regulator offers the industry's highest efficiency for this form factor, extending battery life through an optimized power train and low quiescent current. With a VIN of 3.6V at light load (1mA), efficiency is 84 percent and at 200mA load efficiency is 91 percent. The FAN4860 is an ideal choice for cell phones, smartphones, PMPs, and lithium-ion portables.
