MHP Metal Hybrid PPTC Devices

Littelfuse MHP Metal Hybrid PPTC Devices are cost-effective, resettable circuit protection devices capable of 9VDC or 12VDC contact ratings, which helps to meet the battery safety requirements of higher-capacity Lithium (Ion) Polymer and prismatic batteries. By connecting a bimetal protector parallel with a polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) device, the resulting Metal Hybrid PPTC Device offers resettable overcurrent protection. At the same time, the low resistance of the PPTC device prevents arcing of the bimetal protector at higher currents. Littelfuse MHP Metal Hybrid PPTC Devices are ideally suited for applications such as cordless battery tools, E-bikes, back-up uninterruptable power supplies (UPS), and back-up power for medical devices.

Battery Fuel Gauge IC Protection

Littelfuse offers protection components for battery fuel gauge ICs. Battery Fuel Gauge ICs are critical components to the battery management system within battery-operated electronics, including drones, medical equipment, small appliances, and mobile and wearable devices. Fuel gauge ICs monitor the battery state of charge, sending the data to power management ICs to provide optimal battery life, longevity, and overall system performance. Protecting the fuel gauge ICs is important due to the increased voltage in batteries up to 20V for USB-C. Sustained overvoltage, ESD, overcurrent faults, and overheating are all hazards that could damage the battery management system if proper protection is not used.

MHP-TAC Mini-Breakers

Littelfuse MHP-TAC Mini-Breakers are metal hybrid PPTC devices that are in a smaller size than typical MHP-TAM devices. The MHP technology connects a bimetal protector in parallel with a Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient (PPTC) device. These mini-breakers act as a heater and keep the bimetal latched until the fault is removed. The MHP-TAC helps to provide resettable overtemperature protection and meet the battery safety requirements of higher-capacity Lithium (Ion) Polymer and Prismatic batteries. These are found in most mobile devices such as laptop PC’s, tablets, and smartphones. Littelfuse MHP-TAC Mini-Breakers are available in 4.75mm x 2.8mm x 0.8mm dimensions that allow for ultra pack designs.

Gaming Solutions

Littelfuse Gaming Solutions include a wide range of products, including protection ICs, TVS diode arrays, switches and temperature indicators. Smart wearables are bridging the gap between the physical and virtual realms. These Littelfuse Gaming Solutions are suitable for gaming controllers, wireless headphones, smart watches, and VR and AR headsets.

Battery Management System Solutions

Littelfuse Battery Management System Solutions provides components that protect against overcurrents, surges, and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) that threaten the safe operation of Battery Management Systems (BMS) in industrial tools and robotics, as well as e-mobility, mobile, and wearable applications. These systems regulate battery performance and communicate with energy management systems to keep batteries safe and operational. Littelfuse Battery Management System Solutions include fuses, TVS diodes, diode arrays, single-cell batteries, multi-cell batteries, solid state relays, and more.
